Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. They moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five where she attended the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she realized she wanted to be an actor. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she was taught acting as well as singing. When she was 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was cast in the year 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight straight auditions. Emma's first appearance in a film was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It broke all records in the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film was praised by critics who praised the film and particularly those who were young. The widely distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable.
